Week 1

What is the hardest part of having a newborn? LACK OF SLEEP. It is astonishing to think that Hinckley has been part of our family for a week. That sure was a quick time! I think part of the reason it went by so quickly is because our activities don't really distinguish day and night anymore--it's just been one long day.  Hinckley seems to know the difference between day and night because he literally sleeps ALL day and only wakes up to eat. But at night, he wants to be awake. If only we, as his parents, could train our bodies to keep the same schedule as him until he decides to switch to our schedule.  Greg and I are managing for now by tag-teaming. For the first few nights, Greg was pretty sick, so he couldn't be that helpful. Since he is feeling better now, we've worked out a system where I wake up to feed Hinckley and Greg wakes up if Hinckley just wants to be awake. This works best because if I hold Hinckley he automatically assumes it is time to eat--even

Hinckley David Williams Arrives in Style

This was a big week! On Friday, July 12 2013 at 6:54 p.m. Hinckley David Williams was born in Colorado Springs, CO. He weighed 7 lbs and 11 oz, and was 21 inches long. Here is some more visual detail.                                        "What do you think Pop?" Hinckley asks. "Am I bigger than you?" The woman of the hour/day/week/eternity :) Happy Dad Sleeping Exploring Burrito Boy We stayed in the hospital Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. It was quite the adventure to say the least. Kassie is feeling much better, and Hinckley is in great health. I am doing pretty well too, and we are all looking forward to getting officially settled and into some sort of new life and routine. It will still be a while till that though! Hinckley being tired and Kas being happy Trying out the car seat Saying good bye to the post partum room. Between this and the delivery room we watched nearly two full seasons of Dowton Abbey

4th of July - The End of Institute

The baby has not come yet, and we are praying that he will stay in till at least Wednesday!  Kas is doing well but remains quite uncomfortable (She is  over 40 weeks pregnant anyway). She went with her family to a neat nature park and saw some wild animals and things. They saw some fireworks on the 4th but the show started later than everyone was anticipating.  I enjoyed a pretty amazing festival/fair near the Arkansas river in Tulsa where they shot off huge fireworks and had lots of country music and jumbo corn dogs. They also had one hot air balloon that was tied down but folks were taking little rides on it. It was fun to reflect on the many happy Independence days of my youth.  I got my final assignment as a second grade teacher at Walt Whitman Elementary and we are so eager for my training to be over so we can be reunited as a family and welcome the baby into the world. The doctor will induce Kas on Friday if she still hasn't delivered so for sure a week from toda
