Vacation and the Start of a Vocation

Wow, things have become insanely busy! We returned home from a family reunion in San Diego, CA a week ago, and this past week I started teaching the second grade. The trip to CA went much more smoothly than we anticipated, especially the flights to and from.  Hinckley did pretty great for his first vacation ever. I think he was a little surprised (in a good way) with all the attention he got from all his young cousins.  Precious Cargo Beautiful view from right where we were staying. You can see some of the cousins playing in the waves - as they did so for much of the trip! The trip to CA came at a moment that provided us a great rest and preparation for the challenging road ahead. We enjoyed relaxing, eating lots of good food, and walking in the perfect weather. Kas is doing great, recovery pretty much complete. The hot tub was the place to go after playing in the waves. Chatting in the kitchen This is on the balcony of the place we stayed. Pretty go

It's a Celebration!

Today is a pretty special day for our family. It is our two year anniversary AND Hinckley is one month old! (Thank goodness H was born on the 12th instead of the 11th or 13th because Greg and I already have a hard time remembering the day of our anniversary!) What have we been doing the last month? It has been quite busy and anything but ordinary. We left my parents' house in Colorado and officially finished our move to Tulsa two weeks after Hinckley's birth. That was a relief and a welcome end to our crazy summer! Or so I thought... It turns our that moving to another state in the same month you have a baby is not that easy. I didn't even think twice about it because I have moved so much in the past. However, we still have several unpacked boxes sitting around the house. Some of the administrative things that keep us busy: apartment problems, buying a car, registering our cars and getting OK licenses, getting health insurance, finding a doctor for Hinckley, getti

Settling Into Tulsa

It has been over a week since we arrived here in Tulsa, OK. When we got here our bathroom floor was being tiled (it was carpet before) so our very kind landlady put us up in the Marriott in downtown Tulsa!  These were perhaps the most comfortable beds I have ever sept on. Hinckley seemed to enjoy them too! We arrived at our place, a condo near the Arkansas River. I thought it was pretty good when I signed for it, but we learned later that many adventurous things would happen. Because the purpose and tone of this blog are meant to be positive, I will not spend the time and energy to chronicle those adventures here.  Street view of the place - where I park my new car (2001 Nissan Altima) woot woot.  Front view. It is a two story place, with two bedrooms.  We are getting a little better each day/night in working with Hinckley and his sleep schedule. When it is day I find his actions much more cute than at night when I wish he would just sleep. Kas is doing a good job
