June 28, 2026

We kicked off this week going to "The Ruth" (Utah Valley version of Hale Center Theater) to see "Once On This Island" with the three older kids. We informed them they were being cultured ha ha. We had Mom and Dad over on Tuesday and Wednesday with the kids and the Kays were there on Tuesday. It was wonderful to see everyone get along so well and they created this epic horror movie called "The Sewers" and involved each person. I enjoyed a late Father's Day lunch with Dad on Wednesday as well. We had dinner with some friends on Tuesday and they had a kiddie pool in their backyard where Desi was in heaven. He did not want to leave!

Lehi Round Up Parade

Hauling in Candy in Lehi Parade

Addie got into baking some more this week and made cookies and grilled cheese sandwiches. It was fun to see her teacher her friend Brooke the way she likes it. Kassie and I had a fun double date with some friends up in Bountiful attending a dance class with dessert after. We learned some fox trot and swing steps and it brought back memories of my social dance class at BYU. Saturday we went to the Lehi Parade (my first time) with the three younger kids. Addie was in the parade with the orthodontist float and she was excited to throw out candy and get a free shirt. Desi and Greyson raked in an unbelievable amount of candy. Hinckley had a friend birthday party, a swim meet with frustrating results, and has kicked off volunteering at the Space Center education place in PG that I loved so much growing up. He and his friend Logan also started building a fort down by the lack using all the spare tree limbs and such and he seems to be enjoying that time outside.

This week passed quickly with Greyson wrapping up his baseball season while starting his 2-week swimming lesson class. He also did a 2-day art class with the city that he endured. I took the three older kids to Zion Friday for a quick 1-day campout at the Watchman Campground. We had a fun time doing some of the Narrows, going to the Overlook trail at night, and seeing emerald pools and Lady Mountain on Saturday morning. It was a quick fun trip!

Desi has begun singing more often, especially in the middle of other people talking or during Sacrament meeting (the talks, not the songs haha). His favorite lyrics amount to one word: "Roar!". He has started jabbering a lot more, but still sits on the edge of full talking. He shouts "Let's go!" when it's time to head out somewhere, and is quick to say "Bye!" and wave when he senses someone is leaving soon. He enjoys crawling into his siblings' beds if they leave their room defenseless.

Amazing Father's day breakfast

I enjoyed Father's day with an amazing breakfast served in bed and a really cool NIV version of the Bible with a few bible story illustrations from the kids inserted in there. They also made me a really nice candy poster. I'm grateful for my Dad and it was great to see him, Mom, Trent, and Abi and her kids Sunday night.

Hey all, it's been great seeing most of you this weekend and hear Tristan share his testimony and experience. This week Hinckley had a big swim meet up in Cottonwood Heights where he had some good events. He also had his first observation with the Space Center in PG where he is going to be doing some volunteering this summer. Addie and Greyson went to a primary day camp at "This is the place" monument village in SLC with the ward on Wednesday and had a great time. We had a family bike ride to get some Italian ice and treats on Monday which was fun and everyone seemed to enjoy at least a few moments of that venture. Desi continues to experiment with trying to do everything his older siblings do. He, Addie, and Greyson had a ton of fun at the Provo outdoor pool with some cousins and Hinckley enjoyed having Logan and Jack over for a brief sleepover too.

This past week I went on another work trip, this time to Chicago. Hinckley had stake young men's camp up in Heber and seemed to have an ok time. Addie and Greyson really enjoyed our HOA pool party on Friday night, and Kassie and I went and say the movie "Pressure" which is about the weather forecast drama before D day (watched it on D day too!).

Desi continues to refer to himself as "Baby" and insists on many things which everyone seems to accommodate quite well when not playfully teasing him. Addie and I had a fun date making cucumber boats and coaxing them down a creek in American Fork. Greyson and Kassie went to an arcade and he was draining tons of basketball shots to earn lots of tickets!

Dishes

It is that time of day when the house is quiet, the table is half covered in pots, pans, and tuber ware with food scattered across. The car isn’t in the garage and the dog lies sleeping on the blue blanket. The sun lies somewhere back there, behind the cloud over those mountains. It makes some nice gold colors on the rocky face of the mountains outside of the window. I guess it is so nice because at this time of year there is a lot of plants and flowers in the back yard so the gold makes it seem sort of dreamlike. Yeah, I’ll do em I guess. Call it being nice or being bored. Does it matter? Approaching the sink I am nipped by the denting smell. The eggshells, scraps of mango, carrot peel, and chunks of tofu drip in my fingers. Oh yes, the trash is under the sink these days. Drip once, drip twice on the floor. The water in the frying pan trembles, shaking the crusty flakes of burnt egg. Yogurt and peanu...

August 3, 2025 The last three weeks have been a blur as we've had lots of extended family events and excursions. September 2025

September 28, 2025 This week brought a mix of new experiences and challenges. Hinckley had additional surgery after the chains came out of his gums. It seemed quite painful, but he handled it well. To keep him from being too bored during recovery, I made him watch Cast Away. I visited Kassie at her work and got to see her doctor’s office and meet some of her colleagues. She seems to be doing well and is enjoying learning new skills like giving shots and doing blood draws. Happy guy (photo by Abi) Desmond has been keeping us entertained with his wobbly walking, which takes him everywhere—around the neighborhood, at church, in our backyard, and even on BYU campus when we met up with Mom and Dad to visit the Bean Museum and grab lunch at the Cougar Eat. His favorite spot at home is still the strawberry patch, where he happily eats berries—even though the season is winding down. Desi examines a hungry lion next to a random picture at the Bean Desi kicks a soccer ball as Greyson coaches/tau...
