Week 7: Birthday and more second time around

February, as it turns out - is really a very festive month for our small family. Particularly between the 7th and the 16th. We had a fun Valentine's Day and enjoyed the kind cards from good folks. Kassie's birthday was great - though she was a wee bit sick. She got some new scriptures with her full name inscribed on them! Wahoo!


Flowers and cards dot our little table that sits by our little everything else. As I said - things are festive and we are grateful for such caring family and friends.


We went to the Holocaust Museum yesterday, and if Kas is feeling alright we will probably go see the reading room in the Library of Congress tomorrow, or if the weather is nice enough we will go to old town Alexandria.

We saw the Vietnam wall, and walked home on the path that we normally go running on in the morning. There is a nice view of the old bridge and the Potomac.

Things are going well - though I hope Kas gets feeling better soon. We love you all!

    Happy Birthday Kassie! I loved the Holocaust museum and the Vietnam Memorial. You guys are on holy ground there. Hope you feel better too Kas. It makes you grateful for your health, eh?

    I am blown away by the awesome things you guys are able to do while there. Sorry abou the sickness--we've been sick here in our house for nearly 3 weeks now! Happy b-day we love you both.

October 4, 2026 This last week was a full one and was quite eventful. Monday Desi cut his chin open again at daycare, I accidentally drugged addie with the "drowsy" allergy medicine instead of the other one so she needed to come home early from school and slept for 5 hours, and Greyson was sick in the morning but good enough for me to take him to school before lunch time. Tuesday, I had a wonderful hike with Hinckley in which we summitted Mt Nebo in less than 5 hours. It was a stunning day and the colors were out and we had just perfect weather. Thursday Addie and I got to go to a Daddy/Daughter dance our elders quorum put on at the church and it was amazing! We had a lot of fun dancing and grooving to the tunes and enjoyed the treats as well. Friday Hinckley had a swim meet in Provo and beat all his times by at least 2 seconds, and also got a state qualifying time - not bad for the first meet of the season! Dishes

It is that time of day when the house is quiet, the table is half covered in pots, pans, and tuber ware with food scattered across. The car isn’t in the garage and the dog lies sleeping on the blue blanket. The sun lies somewhere back there, behind the cloud over those mountains. It makes some nice gold colors on the rocky face of the mountains outside of the window. I guess it is so nice because at this time of year there is a lot of plants and flowers in the back yard so the gold makes it seem sort of dreamlike. Yeah, I’ll do em I guess. Call it being nice or being bored. Does it matter? Approaching the sink I am nipped by the denting smell. The eggshells, scraps of mango, carrot peel, and chunks of tofu drip in my fingers. Almost There!

Tomorrow is our baby's due date! We don't think he will come tomorrow, but one never knows. Here are some pics from this week. School is going pretty well for me, though I transition to writing/reading from doing math for the past two weeks so I am a little nervous about that. The view from the bus just before I get off and start teaching for the day. Usually I am barely awake at this point.  Awesome panorama of our classroom. It has taken a lot of work to get all this stuff up, but it could still use lots more!
